AUTOMATIC, FROM THE FIRST CONNECTION
A Bluetooth connection starts the record. You stay in control of its purpose and finish.
While parked, pair your vehicle and enable automatic recording with the required Android permissions and companion approval. Its Bluetooth connection can then start recording without a Start tap.
Recording starts before you answer. A purpose prompt lets you classify the trip, with one follow-up after two minutes if it is still Unclassified. You can review the purpose later.
A 60-second Bluetooth reconnection window helps keep a brief dropout in the same recording. If that window expires, the automatic trip ends; Android scheduling can affect timing.
End manually, or let the Bluetooth disconnect window expire. An optional phone reminder after observed parking asks whether to end or keep recording. Review your trips, add context and export a copy.
Next in the app: choose a specific business purpose and add a note.

IN-CAR PURPOSE PROMPTS · INTERNAL TEST
Business meeting or a personal journey? The current internal test sends Business and Private purpose prompts to compatible Android Auto hosts, as well as your phone.
Automatic recording is already running when the prompt arrives. Your answer classifies the active trip; it does not start the recording. Leave it unanswered and review the trip later.

Your vehicle and Android Auto host control whether the notification and its actions appear. Display is not guaranteed. Complete setup and interact only while parked. Parking reminders appear on the phone.
THE DETAILS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
A logbook should help you understand your records. FirstLogbook keeps the trip, its purpose and the source of its distance in view.
Enable automatic Bluetooth recording separately for each vehicle. Keep its profile, connection settings and dashboard readings together, in kilometres or miles.
Automatic recording needs one-time setup.Separate business and private journeys. Add a specific business purpose and notes so a record still makes sense when you return to it.
Edit context without rewriting measurements.See GPS estimates alongside manually entered dashboard readings. Supported complete odometer intervals can allocate distance across recorded trips.
Estimates and gaps stay clearly identified.Keep records on your phone and export a copy. Optional subscriber backup uses your selected Google Drive account; encrypted manual file transfer is also available.
Understand your dataReal-world recording depends on Android permissions, location quality and your device. FirstLogbook shows interruptions and missing data so you can review them.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS
Invited internal testers can install it through the Google Play testing link above. The app is not yet publicly released. You must use an approved Google account to access the internal test.
After you set up a paired vehicle, background location access and Android companion approval, that vehicle’s Bluetooth connection can start recording. Android and device restrictions can affect delivery. You can also start and stop a trip manually. Complete setup and interact with the app only while parked.
The current invited internal test includes Android Auto extensions for the initial Business or Private prompt and a two-minute follow-up while the trip remains Unclassified. Your Android Auto host and vehicle determine whether the notification and actions are shown. Recording continues if no prompt appears; classify the trip later on your phone while parked. This feature is still being tested and is not a guarantee of support for every car.
No. GPS distance is an estimate and can miss bends or gaps in location observations. Your dashboard reading is entered separately. Where the app can validate a complete interval between linked readings, it can allocate the odometer difference across recorded trips. Review the source and quality of each distance.
Records are stored on your phone. Optional Google Drive backup sends copies to your chosen account’s private app folder and requires a subscription for new uploads. Connecting to Drive alone uploads nothing. Place lookup can send trip endpoint coordinates to lookup providers. Read privacy and data for the details.
FirstLogbook is in internal testing and makes no ATO approval or compliance claim. It helps you organise records; you remain responsible for checking which records and supporting evidence your circumstances require.
The current internal test includes a 20 qualifying completed journey allowance per installation and FirstLogbook Pro subscription options. Available plans and current local prices are shown in Google Play inside the app. This is an internal test, and no public launch pricing is announced here.
